There are many reasons to move to Switzerland, get a job and enjoy your life in this beautiful country.

  1. Money

Honestly, many individuals are drawn to Switzerland due to the high salaries.

When compared to other European nations, Switzerland leads with the highest pay. Typically, a professional in Switzerland earns twice as much as in Germany, Austria, France, or the Netherlands.

If you receive a 3000 EUR salary in Germany, your salary in Switzerland should be approximately 6000 CHF or higher. If you managed to save 500 EUR monthly in Germany, you could save 1000 EUR or more in Switzerland. There is a 1:2 ratio between the two countries, but by being savvy and exploring ways to save money, you might reduce your expenses and boost your earnings in Switzerland.

In Switzerland, experts are highly valued, much like a skilled doctor or manager, and they are rewarded with substantial salaries for the value they provide.

Many companies in Switzerland implement the 13th salary policy to assist employees with high expenses at the start of the year, typically when tax results are received. Other companies offer a fixed bonus as part of the employment agreement.

Salaries generally begin at 4,000 CHF per month, although there is no official minimum wage in Switzerland. For examples of salaries in various industries, you can visit lohncomputer.ch.

Discussing money in Switzerland inevitably involves the topic of Steuer or Tax.

The high salaries are largely due to low taxation. However, there are hidden complexities, as Switzerland has numerous taxes. These include Quellensteuer (taxation for foreigners), Eigenmietwert Steuer (tax based on the hypothetical rental value of your own home), wealth tax on assets owned both within Switzerland and abroad, among others.

To add another layer of complexity, there are also Bundessteuer, Kantonalsteuer, and Gemeindesteuer. Therefore, if a family earns 160,000 CHF annually, they will pay the following taxes in:

Zug - 12700 CHF as tax

Luzern - 24300 CHF as tax

Bern - 32400 CHF as tax

Zürich - 24800 CHF as tax

The salary is important, but your place of residence can also impact your earnings. To see the differences in taxation for each city/village, you may visit Comparis website https://www.comparis.ch/steuern/steuervergleich/steuerrechner

  1. Breathtaking nature

The Wanderweg sign is located right next to your home.

Within a few minutes to an hour, you can reach the mountains. Living in Thun, Chur, Brienz, Luzern, and many other places.

Where others go for vacations, you have them nearby.

Endless hiking trails and tourism resources are available.

I reside in the heart of a natural park in Switzerland, and it's incredible to wake up each morning surrounded by mountains, with limitless hiking options just outside your door. It's beautiful and a privilege to be here.

  1. School system

I think it is an excellent school system; it is lightweight and doesn't overwhelm children with numerous topics, emphasizing understanding the reasons behind what they learn. The curriculum integrates a variety of physical and creative activities, providing children with an environment where they feel positive and enthusiastic about school. They enjoy themselves with numerous games alongside learning and tests. In villages near mountains, spending time in the forest with the class or participating in the annual autumn hike is essential.

Attending the best schools, however, requires effort and time, repetition in learning, and sometimes tutoring. Overall, I believe it is a balanced system focused on the well-being of the children, but it does not challenge them. Through challenge and hard work, true potential is realized.

  1. Stable economy and efficient administration

Some people claim that efficiency in Switzerland is lacking, with some institutions bogged down by bureaucracy. However, my experience has been quite positive, and with adequate preparation, success is assured. Being well-prepared and having the necessary documentation is crucial for swift achievement of your goals.

The economy remains stable, allowing many businesses to prosper. In the villages, it's essential to stay engaged by joining local clubs and initiatives to discover future opportunities.

  1. People

Some claim that Swiss people can be challenging, with a culture that's not very open, making it hard to form friendships. However, I believe that in every country, there are both friendly individuals and those you don't connect with. It's the same here. I was pleasantly surprised by the Swiss people's simplicity; they are very nice, warm, open, and friendly if you reflect the same behavior. Unlike in any other country, many Swiss individuals have helped us unconditionally, and I will always remember them. My family and I are in this country because a Swiss family persuaded us to move here and kept insisting until we did.

Swiss people are hard working and they like things to work well; in this sense they do their best. Of course this is my experience and everyone is building his/her own experience.

What else would you chose? Food? Living in the big cities? What would be your reasons that worth living in Switzerland?

Sharing is caring.
